In the 1960s, the Green Berets worked with the Vietnamese tribes of Montagnards (called “Yards” for short) to help defend southern villages from attacking bands of Viet Cong (VC). During this time, Green Berets caught and ate snakes for survival, to which President Kennedy gave them the moniker “snake eaters.”

In honor of the ‘Yards” and the intrepid snake eaters of the United States Army Special Forces, we present the new Snake Eater MOD 2. Inspired by the colors of the Montagnard tribes and the daring missions they all carried out together fighting the VC and the NVA. The Snake Eater MOD2 features the same OTB features that can withstand any environment and is the perfect shoe to celebrate the heritage and valor of the Green Berets.

I bought a pair of mod 2 wides after owning a pair of mod 1's and loving them. The problem is the wides seem to fit tighter then the regular size so that's really disappointing. Other than that I love these shoes!

True to Size. wides are not a normal "wide" definitely run more narrow. About 48-50 hours of wearing before break-in was complete, but they are rather comfortable, seem to be durable and have taken construction abuse rather well so far. Customer service was amazing when it came to needing an exchange my mod-2 had a factory defect and took an exchange no questions asked, over all nice shoes like the look and have functioned great for what I needed.

Great looking shoes with a durable looking and feeling canvas exterior. I was initially uneasy about how hard it was under foot, but it improved as I broke them in. The outsole is made from a harder rubber for durability but it trades some grip for that. I would prefer a softer rubber with a deeper tread. I would not suggest these for smooth or wet floors. I bought the wide version and I do find it to be almost too narrow. Happily they did stretch a bit with wear. There is a seam that protrudes from behind the heel that at first was rather irritating. I would like to see some kind of cover over that in a newer version. My right shoe is slightly defective and the stitching around part of the outsole is loose. On the plus side that explains why the right shoe seemed to breathe so much better than the left. The insole is interestingly made from tpu and it's far more solid than the usual foam insole. I would like to see more insoles like it I think. My foot did slide a little on the insole at first but it seems to grip my feet better now with some wear. For those who like to just slide their feet into shoes quickly for a short jaunt, these are not for you. I have to untie them around halfway to get my feet inside or out. Over all I'm alright with my purchase of these shoes which was on sale for under 100$ at the time. I would not pay full 160$ price for them as they are at the moment.

Material / build : very nice exterior stitching looks great and is holding up Insole: It’s a gel like substance, it is comfortable, but it does make the shoe warm compared to other shoes without this style of insole. The shoes sole’s texture is a bit off to me, like it’s grippy, but not. Maybe it’s just me not having worn any sneakers in like 10years and just boots Overall I’m very satisfied with the product, and will end up with another pair

Been waiting for a wide model, when these went on sale I jumped at them. My feet apparently need even wider ones though. Nothing against Woobies, these shoes are very high quality and would fit normal feet perfectly. Unfortunately they are still very snug for me. Based on every normal factor these are easily a 5 star product and I rated as such.

I ordered the new wide shoe size with the high-top style. The shoes felt a bit tight and narrow at first, but after a few days of use they broke in and are super comfortable. I love them and I would recommend them.

Honestly guys. I have the old style before you switched vendors. The first ones were functional, tough and had unquestionable quality. These snake eaters didn't live up to that unfortunately. The materials are far cheaper. And the traction isn't as good for wet work of any form.
