Mason Hamlett

Chief Executive Officer of Woobies.

A humble beginning

I am from a small town in Texas. Following high school, I worked in construction for several years and eventually started my own business. Yet for some reason, no matter how well things were going, I just wasn’t fulfilled. My grandfather was a Marine during WWII and I always admired his story. His experience inspired me to join the Marine Corps. I enlisted in  the Marines in 2007 and ultimately spent 8 years in the service which included deployments to Afghanistan and throughout the Pacific. Upon completion of my service, I performed security contracting for a variety of 3 letter agencies in some “sporty” areas around the world.

About Mason

In 2018 the opportunity arose to pursue my MBA. I met the founder, Anthony Aguiniga, while at SMU and quickly realized that Woobies was my new calling.  In Woobies we have taken audacious actions in order to sustainably grow the company. Woobies is committed to providing the best products and customer service in the industry.

Questions 2 - What school did you attend?
Mason - I attended Southern Methodist University where I met the founder, Anthony Aguiniga.

Question 5 - What were you doing before joining the Squad?
Mason - Prior to Woobies I worked for a financial technology startup that was eventually sold to a large financial institution.

Question 6 - What are your goals and aspirations?
Mason - I feel at home the Woobies team (The Squad). I haven't felt this sense of brotherhood since the Marines. My goal is to do all I can to assist Woobies in creating an outstanding culture while providing the best product and customer service to our supporters.  Another goal would be to create a non-profit that is focused on veterans transitioning back into society.

Question 7 - Is there anything else you would like to say to our veteran community and customers?
Mason - To our customers, I'd like to personally thank you, we couldn't have gotten this far without you. Everything we do at Woobies is to ensure you have an incredible experience with an incredible product.

To our veteran community, I'd like to specifically address those folks about to leave active duty. Transitioning from the service presents a variety of challenges. Fortunately, there are systems in place to help make the change easier. I would recommend to any veteran that they take full advantage of the benefits that the GI Bill provides. It may sound cliche but I'd also recommend to any transitioning veteran that they find something they're passionate about and pursue it with the same vigor they did in the service. The possibilities are literally endless... After all, you only get one shot at this merry go 'round.
